March 25th Update
Dear Athena Family,
In response to the Stay Home – Work Safe Order issued by the City of Austin and Travis County, which requires residents to stay home and prohibits all public and private gatherings to reduce the spread of COVID-19, our Athena campus will remain closed through April 13.
Campus is closed, but school is open. We are committed to staying true to our mission to serve you and your children, our North Star. We aim to provide not only academic and developmental guidance, activities, and resources for you, but also to provide social and emotional nurturing, support, and connection for all of us. Rather than use the term “social distancing”, let’s reframe it as “physical distancing with social solidarity”. We are a community, and we are here for each other.
ALL of my team—our administrative staff and teachers—are working very hard individually and collaboratively to generate ongoing virtual content and opportunities for connection and participation. We encourage you to keep an eye out for our virtual Weekly Activity Packets via email, starting tomorrow. We welcome your feedback on which parts are most helpful and other ideas you may have. We look forward to seeing many of you this evening in our first weekly Fireside Chats via Zoom at 8:00 p.m. If you miss this week’s discussion we hope you join us next week.
I want to thank our community for your continued support and commitment, as well as the outpouring of understanding and gratitude many of you have shared. As you are aware, April 1st is the last tuition installment on this year’s enrollment contract. It is your financial commitment to Athena that allows us to continue to serve you, and ensures our return to all that has made our community great for the last 14 years and will in the future. We know this situation has created hardship for all of us and we’re all in this together. Thank you so much for being a part of our community. We look forward to the safe and healthy return of all its members.
