After School Program

2:45 pm – 5:30 pm

In addition to our Half and Full Day Montessori programs, we provide quality educational care for your children after school in our After School program (ASP). * Please note that enrollment in our  After School Program is only offered to children who are at least 24 months of age.

Early Arrival & After School Program Handbook

Our primary goal is to care for your children in a nurturing, safe, creative, playful, and flexible environment while honoring the Montessori philosophy after regular school hours. You may enroll in the After School program for use on a daily basis or call ahead to use it on a drop-in basis. We care for children in our After School Program until 5:30 p.m.

In order to provide the highest quality program, our After School Program has a maximum capacity, and we will enroll children on a first-come, first-served basis for a full-time enrollment of five days per week. You can enroll in the After School Program during the enrollment period on your Enrollment Contract via your Parent Login on our website.

To reach the After School team after 3:00 p.m.,
please call the Athena Office at 512.494.6237.

After School drop-ins are allowed ONLY IF there is room on a particular day. To find out if there is room, please call the office as early as possible but no later than 2:30 p.m. If there is room, someone from the office will notify the child’s guide and the After School team about the drop-in. The $35 drop-in fee can be included with your next tuition payment. Checks can be left in one of our three outdoor lockboxes. Reminders for any Early Arrival or After School fees will be emailed to you if necessary. Any child not enrolled in ASP who is still at school after their designated pick-up time (or after an Extracurricular Program) will be assessed the $35 drop-in fee.

In addition to outdoor and/or indoor play during the After School Program, we will offer activities involving art and self-expression, body movement, reading, puzzles, games, and manipulatives. We also provide a healthy and nutritious snack for children enrolled in the After School Program.

There will be an emergency contact binder and attendance clipboard, including a sign-out sheet, with one of the After School guides at all times. It is essential when you come for pick-up that you make contact with that team member before leaving with your child, so that we can make sure your child gets signed out (required by law) and to ensure that all of our little ones are accounted for and taken good care of. To reach the After School team after 3:00 p.m., please call the Athena office at 512.494.6237.

The location on campus of the EAP and ASP is subject to change from year to year, depending on our needs, and will be discussed in pre-visits, at Back to School Night, and in newsletters. Please talk to your guide if you have any questions.

Please note: Enrollment in the After School Program is contingent upon the Lead Guide’s assessment of a child’s developmental readiness and needs. If your guide has a question about whether After School is appropriate for your child, including children who may already be enrolled in the program, your guide will schedule a meeting with you to discuss.
