Two self care tips for your tot
Self Care – Wiping nose
Help your child gain awareness and independence by setting up an area for self care!
A mirror (wall mounted or a small hand held mirror can work too), a tissue box, and a trash or compost bin (can be close by or you can invite your child to bring their tissue wherever it is).
You can demonstrate by looking into a mirror and blowing your nose slowly.
Many children are still learning how to blow, for children still working on that just wiping is okay!
They may need to practice many times before they are fully successful with this, just encourage them to check again if they missed something. Some children love to pull many tissues out, you can remind them to use just one tissue at a time.
After they are finished always remind them to please wash their hands. 🙂
Self Care – Hair Brushing
Toddlers love to be independent, brushing their own hair is a fun activity and a great way to practice self care and gain self awareness.
A brush or comb and a mirror.
You can model how to or just let them explore this activity independently.
This can be part of their daily self care routine.
If your child normally wears clips to keep their bangs out of their eyes, then you could add a tiny basket of clips so that they can practice clipping their hair back too.
