Movers & Shakers

The Movers & Shakers Program is a uniquely designed program, typically lasting one year, created to meet the needs of the young child between the ages of 3 and 18 months. With a sensitivity to and understanding of the unique needs of this age group, the Movers & Shakers Program has been designed to provide a warm and nurturing environment that supports the child’s initial transition from home to school and to encourage the child’s natural inclination toward independence.

Nap

All Movers & Shakers students will have supervised nap periods that allow them to maintain their own pattern of sleeping and waking periods.

Program Hours

Half Day: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
School Day: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The Montessori approach for the young child promotes independence and helps to develop confidence, while allowing the child to become familiar with their intrinsic curiosity for life. These principles are fostered in our Movers & Shakers room by attuning to when the child feels their needs should be heard; observing and intervening when necessary, always being aware of the child’s space and allowing for them to attempt mastery of a developmentally appropriate skill; providing consistent routines and rituals that meet the child’s expectations; giving the children a secure space to explore and identify their interests; and working in partnership with parents to assure consistency and connection between home and school.
