Lorena Aldape (She/Her)

Tots 1 Assistant Guide
Hello Athena Community!

My name is Lorena Aldape, and I am feeling so blessed to be a part of Athena's Tots 1 team!

During Summer Camp 2022, I had the pleasure of being a floater here, and I absolutely loved the experience. Unfortunately, I couldn't continue for the following school year as I was focusing on completing my final year of undergrad at Texas State University. But now, after successfully earning my B.S. in Biology with a minor in Psychology, I'm back and eager to contribute to Athena's mission for my second year in a row!

Initially, I pursued a career in biology with aspirations of attending medical school. However, during my junior year, I realized that the pre-med track wouldn't align with my strong family orientation and my active involvement in church. Balancing my personal life with academic and professional interests would have been challenging. Nevertheless, my passion for making a positive impact on others' lives remained steadfast, and I've found the perfect platform for that here at Athena. Education is something I deeply cherish, especially as a first-generation graduate.

Originally from McAllen, TX, I made the move to San Marcos around four years ago. Since then, I've made my way to Austin where I met my fiancé. In addition to my love for education, I also have a deep love for my two dogs: a pug named Bruno and a frenchie named Theo. I am also bilingual; Spanish was my first language.

I feel incredibly blessed, grateful, and enthusiastic to continue to be part of this community and contribute to the children's development and learning experiences.

Warm regards,
Lorena Aldape
