Jatavia Douglas (She/Her)

Hello everyone!

 

My name is Jatavia but I also go by Tay and I'm so excited to begin my journey here at Athena as an Assistant Guide!

 

I was born and raised in Waco, TX and moved to San Marcos in 2012 to pursue my undergraduate degree at Texas State University.  In 2016, I graduated with my Bachelor's in Family and Child Development which emphasizes the importance of family diversity. In 2018, I graduated with my Master's in Special Education that gave me knowledge on how to properly assist families with multiples and families that have children with special needs. With my experience in special education, I was honored to be a behavioral therapist for children who are on the spectrum for six years. 

 

My passion for serving children and families started at an early age. In 2013, I began my career in childcare as an infant teacher and as the years went by, I was introduced to some amazing professions that also involved working with children. In 2017, I became a Postpartum Doula who serves women and families through pregnancy and postpartum. Now as an Assistant Guide for the Movers and Shakers, I strive to use my doula training, my love for children, my education, and my love for families to create an understanding, learning, and loving environment wherever I go!
